Nonghyup Wins Soft Tennis Championship

Traditional soft tennis powerhouse Nonghyup reaffirmed its dominance by defeating Anseong City’s dogged chase and claiming the crown once again. The 84th Dong-A Ilbo National Soft Tennis Championship held on May 12 at Anseong City Sports Complex climaxed at the final match of the women’s general adult division. The final showdown comprised of two singles matches and three doubles matches.

Aided by the last doubles match won by Park Jin-ah and Lee Ju-ri, Nonghyup turned the tide and won the tournament, 3-2.

Nonghyup manager Jang Han-seop thanked his players for the hard fought victory. Lee Ju-ri, who saved the day, was ecstatic: “I am so happy that it feels like I am dreaming. All my hard work really paid off.”

Nonghyup won the first doubles match, but then went on to lose a doubles match and a singles match to Anseong, falling behind, 1-2. Nonghyup’s star player, Kim Ji-eun, tied the score by winning the second singles match. The third and final doubles match went to Nonghyup, thanks to Lee Ju-ri’s brilliant net play.
