“Let’s run along Cheonggyecheon, the stream of life.”

How about running along Cheonggyecheon which has emerged as an attraction in the world?

The fourth Hi Seoul Marathon hosted by Seoul City and sponsored by Dong-A Ilbo will be held along Cheonggyecheon and Han River on October 1.

It is a festival in which marathoners can run along Cheonggyecheon, a global attraction in the heart of a metropolis. It is held to commemorate the first anniversary of Cheonggyecheon which was restored 47 years after it was covered with concrete.

In the Marathon, one can savor such historical sites as Ogansumun and King Jeongjo Banchado while running to enjoy the great landscapes of Cheonggye’s eight sites (Cheonggye Square, Gwangtong Bridge, Supyo Bridge, Pattern Stream, Wash Area, Wall of Participation and Harmony, Sky Fountain, and Willow Marsh) in which the past and the present, and nature and modern technology meet in harmony.

This marathon contest will provide an opportunity for marathoners to test their competence before the marathon season starts in the fall.

Starting from Seoul Plaza in front of Seoul City Hall and continuing along Cheonggyecheon, the contest has three courses according to the runner’s level: a 10km shortened course along Cheonggyecheon, a 22.3km course through Cheonggyecheon, Junglangcheon, the Han River banks, and Banpo Bridge to Yeouido, and a 42.195km full course.

The first 10,000 applicants can participate in the marathon. Sign up at www.hiseoulmarathon.co.kr until August 31. For any inquires, call 02-542-0596∼7. The fee is 20,000 won for the 10km race, and 30,000 won for the 22.3km race and the full course.
