Lee Seung-yeop (age: 30, Yomiuri) will take part in matches, but will only take three at-bats a game.
Lee, who is suffering from arthritis on his left knee, will only contribute three at-bats per game for the time being.
The Japanese sports newspaper Sports Hochi reported that before the game against Hanshin on September 5, Lee asked the coaching staff for permission to take just three at-bats per game for the meanwhile and Coach Tatsunori Hara granted it. The team made an exception and gave Lee a chance to keep up his work as the fourth batter and overcome his injury.
Lee leads the league with 37 homeruns as of Thursday, but is closely trailed by Riggs (33 homeruns, Yakult) and Tyrone Woods (32 homeruns, Junichi).
