His country finally found him after 57 years. On June 25, 1950, the life of a helmeted soldier ended abruptly in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, where gunfire had roared. The glory of independence was brief. Young men with dreams and years of happiness still ahead gave their lives and left their countrys future to those still living. All over the nation, 130,000 forgotten soldiers are buried. Since 2000, the Ministry of National Defense began searching for and excavating their remains. Currently, 1,376 remains have been found so far.
