Bacon Portrait Sells for 42 Billion Won

Francis Bacon’s “Second Version of Study for Bullfight No. 1” was sold for $4.6 million (about 42 billion won) at auction at Sotheby`s New York on Wednesday. The amount is significantly higher than the initial estimate of $3.5 million, establishing a new record for any living artist`s work sold at auction. Another piece of Bacon`s work, his self portrait in 1969, sold for $3.3 million, which was almost twice its estimate.
