Yoon Bok-hee, a 47-year-old woman who went missing after withdrawing 100 million won from a bank in Ganghwa County, Incheon City on June 17 along with her 16-year-old daughter were found dead yesterday, 14 days after their disappearance.
The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency said Tuesday morning that they found the bodies of the two women in a field around the coastal road in Ganghwa County at around 10:50 a.m.
According to police, both of them had on the same clothes they were wearing the day they disappeared. Yoons body was found face up while her daughters was face down.
Considering the state of decay of the bodies, police assume that the two were abandoned there after being abducted and killed by murderers looking to steal their money.
The area where the bodies were found is about 10 kilometers away from Songhae Township in Ganghwa County where their cell phones were disconnected immediately after they went missing.
Police are searching for witnesses in the neighborhood, tracking down the vehicle used in the crime by checking CCTV videos.
Police said, We believe that the murderers are people around Yoon who knew she had a large amount of money in the bank.
Yoon withdrew 100 million won in cash from Kookmin Bank Ganghwa branch on June 17, after calling her daughters school to allow her daughter to come home early.
After loading the cash into the backseat of her car, she got into the car with two men in their 20s or 30s, one in the drivers seat, and later went missing.
