Government-wide efforts will begin to help Pyeongchang County`s third bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, including expediting construction of railways and repairing entrance roads into the county.
The measures were presented Friday at a meeting of a government support committee for the bid chaired by Prime Minister Chung Un-chan.
The government will advance the completion of a 113-kilometer double track line running between Wonju and Gangneung from 2020 to 2018. If Pyeongchang wins the bid, Gangneung will host the skating competition.
Work is also scheduled to straighten a curved section of a 28.5-kilometer road between Jinbu and Najeon. The road will be the main entrance to a downhill race facility in Jungbong, Gangwon Province.
