Ramadan Begins

Indonesian Muslims perform Wednesday an evening prayer called "Taraweeh" on the night before the start of the holy fasting month of Ramadan at a mosque in Surabaya, Indonesia. Ramadan, the holiest month for the world`s 1.5 billion Muslims, requires followers to refrain from eating, drinking and smoking from dawn to dusk. Foreigners are also banned from smoking and drinking in public at daytime in this holy month.
