The national soccer teams of the two Koreas are in the semifinals of a FIFA-sanctioned tournament for the first time.
South Korea advanced to the final four of the FIFA Under-17 Women`s World Cup Friday for the first time with a 6-5 overtime defeat of Nigeria.
At Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, Trinidad and Tobago, Yeo Min-ji, 17, scored four goals and had one assist in the best individual performance by a South Korean in a FIFA-sanctioned tournament.
North Korea also secured a semifinal berth by beating Germany, 1-0.
Speculation is rising over a possible inter-Korean final in which both Koreas face each other or South Korea facing Japan for the title. The South will play Spain Tuesday and the North will face Japan the same day.
