60th Anniversary of Seoul`s Recapture

On behalf of the Marine Corps, who raised the South Korean national flag at the central government office when Seoul was recaptured in the Korean War, veteran Lee Soh-kun, a reserve Marine colonel, and Kang Dong-ku, a reserve warrant officer, salute the flag Tuesday after raising it at an Armed Forces Day event celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Korean War and the Allied recapture of Seoul at Gyeongbok Palace in Seoul. According to the Marine Corps, everyone in the platoon that raised the flag is known to have died.
