A royal guard-changing ceremony, which reinstates the event from the Joseon Dynasty, takes place at Deoksu Palace in central Seoul on Friday, when cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Cherry blossoms will reach peak season this weekend in the Seoul metropolitan region. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, cherry blossoms were in full bloom in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi Province on Thursday and Friday. Cherry blossoms will likely be in full bloom on Tuesday and Wednesday in Incheon Metropolitan City and Chuncheon in Gangwon Province.

Saturday will see cloudy skies across the nation, while southern Gyeonggi regions will have scattered rains in the morning. But Sunday will see warm spring weather, with daytime highs rising up to 17 degree Celsius in Seoul.

Spring flower festivals at Children’s Grand Park in Neung-dong in Seoul’s Gwangjin district, and Seoul Grand Park in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, will continue through May 5. The Hanmaeum Cherry Blossom Festival, which takes place in front of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office in Suwon, will continue through Sunday.
