The Seoul Dongbu District Public Prosecutors’ Office said on Friday that its Criminal Case Department launched an investigation on Daewon International Middle School for suspicion of committing admission related frauds, followed by Younghoon International Middle School.

The Seoul metropolitan council of educational institutions submitted a legal complaint against Daewon on the charge of embezzlement and dereliction of duty, saying, “The school has taken bribes from (parents of) 106 students who transferred to the school.” The council also filed a lawsuit against a teacher at the school for regularly taking money from the parent of a student, who was admitted to the school through a program to recruit socially underprivileged students.

After examining the legal complaints, prosecutors reportedly summoned and questioned officials from Daewon. Meanwhile, the Seoul Bukbu District Public Prosecutors’ Office, which raided and seized Younghoon International Middle School on Tuesday, sought an arrest warrant for Lim, chief of the school`s administration office, Thursday for the charge of committing admission frauds during the selection process for new students.
