Watching bad movies in a good way

Things go your way. The lyrics of Korean veteran female singer Shim Soo-bong`s song "One million roses" goes like "Without hatred and without hatred, by giving love and love again, one million rose will blossom."

Two movies seemed to be the worst of all movies, but they can be "good" movies if looked that way.

The movie "After Earth" is a story about Cypher (Will Smith) who made an emergency landing at an unfamiliar planet with his son Kitai (Jaden Smith) in year 3072. They discovered that the planet is earth that had been devastated 1,000 years ago after human being left there. Living creatures that conquered the earth evolved in unpredictable forms and started attacking the two people. Listening to the story up to now seems that the movie is a science fiction. However, when one actually watches the movie, he or she will feel anger with betrayal. Will Smith is not the hero. When making an emergency landing on the planet, his legs are broken and has to sit on the spacecraft and stays ehre until the movie ends.

The real hero is Jaden Smith, his son. The story is about Jaden through a remote control by his father destroying aliens and becoming a hero. It is a growth tale. Will Smith joined the movie to help his son grow into an actor. Korean entertainer Kim Gu-ra`s effort to help his son Dong-hyun is nothing compared to Will Smith`s. Will Smith called director of the movie M. Night Shyamalan

on the director`s birthday and told him he had a great story that he thought of. The film was intentionally planned to help Jaden.

While the movie was thought to be an action movie starring Will Smith, when the movie was finished, people would want to create an anti-Will Smith online community. An actor wanted to care for his son but failed. Will Smith makes a person recall a Korean company`s chairman who was broken after he tried to assault an employee at a bar who beat his son.

At second thought however, one may accept Will Smith`s intentions differently. The world star may have wanted to offer a job to his son in a country suffering from prolonged economic downturn in the wake of the global financial crisis and to contribute to global economic recovery.

Movie "Olympus has Fallen" starts with U.S. president meeting a Korean prime minister at White House as global tensions heighten due to North Korea`s nuclear test. A North Korean spy named Kang (Rick Yoon) enters White House disguised as a South Korean body guard and he and terrorists devastate the White House and take U.S. president hostage.

The synopsis is nonsense. Hollywood movies make nonsense cases real and thus are dubbed "dream factory." Nonetheless, how in the world could a North Korean terrorist become a South Korean bodyguard? Is it understandable for them to destroy White House and take U.S. president hostage? Asian actors playing North Korean terrorists are so poor in Korean language dubbing. Let alone them speaking in Seoul-style language and not Pyongyang`s that is really bothersome to listen to, one would only laugh at them pronouncing Korean words so stupidly.

The movie, however, shows how North Korea has hugely contributed to the world. After the end of Cold War between the U.S. and Soviet Union, Hollywood movies had to look for villains to replace Soviet Union or KGB, security agency of Soviet Union and ultimately focused on Arab terrorists since the 2000s. Now they are turning to North Korean terrorists. As North Korea conducted nuclear tests and fired missiles threatening the U.S. region and becoming world star, Hollywood is launching imaginations.

Moreover, many Asian unknown actors and actresses who desperately wanted to get roles at Hollywood movies are being hired even though they are non-regular positions. Korean-American actor Rick Yoon who played a North Korean terrorist chief had appeared as a North Korean villain "Zao" who threatenws world peace in 007 Another Day in 2002, and had a bloody fight with James Bond.

North Korea is contributing to creating jobs for Asian people as member of global society!
