A wrangle over Korean remake drama of Nodame Cantabile

"Is Nodame a big deal?"

KBS2 will air drama "Cantabile Romance" in October and casting of the drama`s heroin actress is getting heated online responses. The drama will be a remake of Japanese drama "Nodame Cantabile." The drama and the original animation were very popular in Korea.

YoonA, member of female idol group "Girls` Generation" was touted about as the strong candidate. But some fans opposed to her being casted, saying, "The role of a heroine is important and YoonA`s image does not match heroine Nodame`s character." Shortly after, her agency SM Entertainment turned down the prospective offer.

Actress Shim Eun-kyung who starred in "Miss Granny" is now being talked about. Her agency BH Entertainment said, "Though final negotiations have yet to be made for payment, etc., we are positively examining the offer.

Some criticize casting depending on netizens` voice. Online postings include, "A remake doesn`t necessarily have to be the same as the original. I feel uncomfortable that a small number of fans are yielding influence in casting."
