Legendary Canadian singer and songwriter Leonard Cohen died at the age of 82 at his home in Los Angeles on Thursday. At the age of 33, Cohen debuted in the music industry by releasing his first album “Songs of Leonard Cohen” in 1967. He emerged as one of the leading singer-songwriters in the 1960s and 1970s with hit tracks including “Hallelujah,” “Bird on a Wire” and “I’m Your Man.” Cohen sang about loneness and despair with his haunting low bass voice, which gave him a nickname “the godfather of gloom.” Cohen’s 14th studio album “You Want It Darker,” which was praised by critics, became his last masterpiece.
