AIM, a production agency, said on Monday that the Generation Axe, a super group consisting of guitarists, will have its first concert in Korea at Samsung Card Hall of the Blue Square in Seoul at 6 p.m. on April 9.
The Generation Axe is a team created last year by Steve Vai, a globally renowned American guitarist. The band consists of five guitarists including Yngwie Malmsteen who opened a new chapter in rock guitars, Nuno Bettencourt of the band “Extreme,” Zakk Wylde, an ex-member of Ozzy Osbourne, and Tosin Abasi of Animals as Leaders. They will perform their signature music and historically famous rock music, separately and together. The creation of the band and a tour in the U.S. generated a lot of buzz. The name of the band sounds like "X" of the "Generation X" and also coined using an axe, a slang referring to a guitar.
“As it is difficult to coordinate each guitarist’s schedule, the Generation Axe will not continue a tour for a long time," AIM said. "As the members said it is a rare opportunity, it will be a concert that rock fans should never miss.” Tickets will be sold on Interpark from noon on Feb. 14.
