U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will exit from the nuclear deal with Iran after two years and 10 months since six countries including the United States, Britain, France, Germany and China struck a deal with Iran in 2015.
In a press conference held Tuesday (local time) at the White House, President Trump declared that he was withdrawing from the nuclear deal with Iran, calling the deal “a horrible, one-sided deal that should’ve never ever made” and immediately signed an administrative order reinstating sanctions on the Iranian regime. The decision has been made three days ahead of the deadline the White House should notify the Congress of its decision. President Trump resolved to “impose the maximum economic sanctions on the Iranian regime.” The Trump administration will reinstate sanctions on Iran when three to six-month grace periods are over.
The White House emphasized that the U.S. exit from the Iran nuclear deal will send a clear message to North Korea. Trump’s national security advisor John Bolton told reporters that “It sends a very clear signal (to North Korea) that the United States will not accept inadequate deals,” adding “It will have implications not simply for Iran but for the forthcoming meeting with Kim Jong Un of North Korea."
