Samsung Electronics Co.’s Galaxy S9 Series smartphones has been recognized in China as the best new product released in the first half of this year, beating rival products by Xiaomi and Huawei. Such a recognition is unusual, as Samsung has been suffering from rising popularity of China’s local brands.
According to the electronics industry sources on Thursday, China’s Nanfang Metropolis Daily reported on the results of its comparison of 10 new major mobile devices released in the market by the end of May in terms of the look, the camera and innovative features ahead of the country’s second-largest online shopping season after the Single's Day Global Shopping Festival.
The Galaxy S9 Series received a total of 159 points, including 45 points in design (no. 1), 44 in camera (no. 2), and 50 in innovative features (no. 1), followed by the Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone with a total score of 134 points, and Huawei’s P20 with 128 points. Trailing them were the Vivo X21 and the Oppo R15.
