Samsung Electronics has chosen South Korea as the first market to introduce the Galaxy S10 5G, the world’s first 5G smartphone.

Samsung announced Monday that the Galaxy S10 5G will be launched in Korea on Friday through telecoms operators or with a self-sufficiency mobile plan. The 235GB-model is priced approximately at 1.39 million won, and the 512GB-model at 1.55 million won.

The South Korean electronics maker announced its plan to take the leadership of 5G technologies by introducing a 5G smartphone for the first time in the world. “Following the commercialization of domestic mobile communications network on December 1 last year, the introduction of the Galaxy S10 5G indicates that we’ve evolved into a company providing a set of integrated solutions from 5G chipsets, smartphones, to telecommunications devices,” so eval‎uated Samsung about the latest addition to its fleet of smartphones. Starting with the R&D project on 5G technologies from 10 years ago, Samsung was also the first company to achieve a gigabyte-transmission rate, spearheading the effort to commercialize 5G mobile communications.

5G mobile communication technologies boast a transmission rate 20 times faster than its LTE counterpart, with unique features such as ultra-low latency and hyper connectivity. This allows users to download high-definition visual contents much faster and enjoy video calls without any hiccup.

The Galaxy S10 5G has been equipped with an 8GM RAM by default to provide the best 5G environment. The phone also comes with an advanced application processor, a 4500mAh battery, and high speed charging

Celebrating the launch of the Galaxy S10 5G, Samsung will provide those who purchased the phone between April 5 and April 16 with one of the three gifts including its wireless earphone Galaxy Buds, a wireless charging package, and a voucher with which one can purchase the Galaxy Watch Active by paying only 90,000 won. The company will also hold an event to double the prices of used smartphones returned by those who have purchased the Galaxy S10 5G in April.
