SH Corp. to offer apartment buildings with PM1.0 prevention system.

The Seoul Housing& Communities Corporation (SH Corp.) announced a plan on Tuesday to construct apartment building equipped with a ventilation system capable of removing PM1.0 as a measure to tackle the ever-worsening fine dust problem. The ventilation system will be first introduced to eight complexes in Godeok-dong and Gangil-dong to be completed by 2020.
The ventilation system utilizes a high-performing H13-grade High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter, which can remove 99.95 percent of particles that have a size greater than or equal to 0.3 µm as well as PM10 and PM2.5. Most ventilation facilities currently installed in buildings focus on removing toxic substances, such as carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds, and formaldehyde. SH Corp. also plans to build a system to purify indoor air while residents are away from home by sending data on carbon dioxide and fine dust levels in an apartment to his or her smartphone.
