美유명투자사 한인직원 e메일 국제망신

국내기업 인수합병(M&A)에 열성적인 미국 투자회사 칼라일그룹에서 잘 나가던 한국인(국적은 미국) 직원이 e메일 때문에 국제적 망신을 당한 사실이 뒤늦게 밝혀졌다.

칼라일그룹 한국사무소의 직원 정모씨(23)는 11명의 미국 친구에게 ‘왕처럼 살고 있소’라는 제목으로 한국에서 호사스럽게 살고있다는 내용의 e메일을 보낸 것이 말썽나 15일 사표를 냈다.

정씨는 이 e메일에서 “한강이 내다보이는 서울의 대형 아파트에 살고 있고 여러 은행의 임직원들로부터 거의 매일 ‘바이사이드(바이어)’ 입장에서 골프와 저녁 술대접 등 향응을 받고 있다”고 떠벌렸다.

또 그는 “같은 아파트에 살고 있는 부사장과 포르셰로 출근하며 거의 매일 밤 한국 젊은 여성들로부터 5∼8통의 전화가 오고 평균 3명의 여성들로부터 밤을 같이 보내자는 제의를 받았으며 아파트의 침실은 ‘영계의 할렘’을 위해 사용됐다”고 말했다.

문제의 e메일은 그의 전 직장인 메릴린치증권사를 포함한 미국 월스트리트에 퍼진 뒤 세계 전역의 투자은행과 증권사 벤처캐피털 등으로 확산됐고 결국 칼라일그룹 워싱턴 본사에까지 알려졌다는 것.

정씨는 99년 7월부터 올해 4월까지 메릴린치증권사에서 일하다 칼라일그룹으로 자리를 옮겼으며 입사 며칠 뒤 한국사무소에 발령나 근무하던 상태였다.

정씨는 이번 소동으로 칼라일그룹에 들어온 지 2주일 만에 도중하차했다는 것.

칼라일그룹은 한미은행의 최대주주(지분 40.1%)로 제임스 베이커 전국무장관과 조지 부시 전대통령을 포함해 워싱턴의 유명인사들이 고문이나 파트너로 참여하고 있다.

So I've been in Korea for about a week and a half now and what can I say,

LIFE IS GOOD…

I've got a spanking brand new 2000 sq. foot 3bedroom apt. with a 200sq. foot terrace running the entire length of my apartment with a view overlooking Korea's main river and nightline… Why do I need 3 bedrooms?

Good question…. the main bedroom is for my queen size bed… where C×××× is going to fuck every hot chick in Korea over the next 2 years (5 down, 1,000,000,000 left to go)…. the second bedroom is for my harem of chickies, and the third bedroom is for all of you fuckers when you come out to visit my ass in Korea. I go out to Korea's finest clubs, bars and lounges pretty much every other night on th weekdays and everyday on the weekends to (I think in about 2 months, after I learn a little bit of the buyside business I'll probably go out every night on the weekdays). I know I was a stud in NYC but I pretty much get about, on average, 5-8 phone numbers a night and at least 3 hot chicks that say that they want to go home with me every night I go out. I love the buyside… I haver bankers calling me everyday with opportunities and they pretty much cater to my every whim - you know (golfing events, lavish dinners, a night out clubbing). The guys I work with ar also all chilll - I live in the same apt building as my VP and he drives me around in his Porsche (1 of 3 in all of Korea) to work and when we go out. What can I say… live is good….
