Scientists Find ‘Lost World’ in Indonesia

There are still places in the world where nobody has ever been. One place is in the remote mountains of Indonesia. There, scientists have discovered a rain forest. They are calling it “The Lost World”because humans are seeing this place for the first time. Scientists have found many new species of plants, frogs, butterflies, and birds. They have also found large mammals that are very rare. These animals are almost extinct outside of this forest. The scientists said they have already discovered twenty frog species and four new butterfly species. They also saw a tree kangaroo that is almost extinct, but it was very shy and ran away very quickly. People in Indonesia are not surprised by the new species. Indonesia is a country that has many different kinds of wildlife. The Lost World is located in a very remote region of Indonesia. The Indonesian government rarely lets foreigners visit there. But the scientists tried hard and got permission. They believe scientific development is as important as preserving the rain forest.

글을 쓰고 나면 스스로 교정을 하는 단계를 거쳐야 합니다. 우선, 군더더기 부분을 찾아내 과감하게 삭제하거나 수정합니다. 예를 들어, 이 글에서 마지막 문장 ‘but if you don't ∼nowaday.’는 꼭 들어가야 하는 문장이 아닙니다. 글의 초점이 ‘성적이 모든 직업에서 최우선 가치는 아니다’라는 것이므로 그 앞의 문장만으로 충분히 훌륭하게 마무리될 수 있기 때문입니다. 마찬가지로 세 번째 단락의 첫 번째 문장 ‘In conclusion,…’ 역시 앞에 이미 나왔던 말의 반복이므로 생략하는 것이 좋겠습니다.

김성준 학생은 성적 우수생 스카우트, 가수라는 직업의 특성 등을 예로 들어서 자신의 주장을 전개한 시도 역시 돋보입니다. 글을 쓰고 나서 다듬는 작업에 좀 더 시간을 들이면 훨씬 더 멋진 글로 완성될 수 있을 것입니다.
