[NYT]Agoos Finally Made His Pulsating Debut

He burned his uniform before one World Cup. He suffered on the bench during another World Cup. Now Jeff Agoos has played in a World Cup game, but not without some new anguish. He deflected the ball for an own goal last Wednesday night, but the United States held on to defeat Portugal, 3-2. “I picked up the ball late in flight and reacted late to it,” Agoos said yesterday, and as a result, he was
